F A G G O T S
Tibau Beirnaert takes you to another planet. A planet where not men, but queers are in charge. What does that world look like? The answer is a strange quest for less masculinity and more sensuality and softness."I learned that I don't have to try to be one of the men if I don't want to // I never wanted to // So I stayed by myself and played in fantasy." The safe space in F A G G O T S offers comfort, freedom, healing and community, but at the same time it lurks a confrontation with its limits. Here, pain and humour go hand in hand.
Drag, queerness and fantasy paired with absurdist and grotesque play - these are the elements that are central to the work of fresh KASK graduate (2023) performer, theatre-maker and tinkerer Tibau Beirnaert (2000). Their theatrical outlook is often coloured by their own drag persona Vivi Sauterelle. This alien apparition is snatched and fierce, but happily comes in peace! Together with director Laurens Aneca (1992), Tibau made their graduation performance F A G G O T S.
