With Out Me

Het Engelse woord ‘without’ verklaart dat ‘zonder’ niet op zichzelf bestaat. Iets kan pas zonder zijn wanneer het ‘met’ is geweest of zal worden. Of anders gezegd, door zonder te zijn, is het ook met. Deze solo onderzoekt de af- en aanwezigheid van de dingen, de mensen, mij, jou. Wat het betekent dat iets of iemand afwezig is en ook of het door afwezig te blijven misschien zelfs meer aanwezig zou kunnen zijn. Het is een uitnodiging om samen te kijken naar de leegte en alles wat daarin te zien is. Het is een inleiding in het fijne gevoel compleet onbelangrijk te zijn. En toch onmisbaar tegelijkertijd.

Dramaturge Hannah Loewenthal omschrijft het werk van Rita als volgt:

"Today Rita is making an inquiry, not only into what fascinates her but why something rather than another thing might fascinate her, or why one place over another place might fascinate her. In this why, there is the possibility to know more about how she would like to share this with others and to recognize the conditions of the in-between spaces which define her practice. She deconstructs and redefines what we might call ‘common’ by bringing people into a state of wondering and into the (specific) place where she would like to be with them. This wondering together is an act of defiance against what we define as concrete and how we might shape the in-between through this common fascination."
